“La Colorada”, located in the unique landscape of Balcarce Mountains and at the foot of La Brava Lake, was conceived as a weekend house.
The landscape was so attractive and magnificent that we made a structural and abstract house with well-defined forms to try to be on a par with the environment.
The volumes were separated from the ground and supported by piles, thus respecting the natural slope of the land. The elevated wooden decks were conceived as a great pier which externally unites all the environments to observe the landscape. The house was naturally developed in a longitudinal form, all the spaces were open to sights, sky and lake.
The great scale of the location demanded the creation of volumes of considerable size which included the main functions. For this reason we also looked for a defined color which contrasted with the grey of the mountains, the green of the grass and the blue-grey of the lake. This is how “La Colorada” stood out in the landscape, contributing with a new color.
The used materials were: textured plaster walls, shaded glasses in the wide openings, stones from the area in the fireplaces and in the dividing wall from master room, and red eucalyptus wood in decks and gallery.
