We were requested to design a 1000m2 warehouse close to the entry of the city of Balcarce on national route 226 to store grinding machines and with an administrative area.
From the beginning, there was an interest of preserving the views of the city with the mountains as backdrop, which the drivers can appreciate from the route.
As it is an industrial area, the scenario has been affected by the construction of considerable big and high warehouses.
The site has the peculiarity of having two fronts, one which faces the service road of the route and another one which faces a secondary lateral street. The slope between the two was 4 meters and this became the kick-off to fulfil our objective. Through a ramp that runs lateral to the construction and a wide maneuvers yard, we managed to descend to the area where machines are stored and where locker rooms, workshops and the shed are located. Using this strategy, we could access from the street level to the administrative and management offices which face the workshop and maneuvers areas, thus being able to sight the entire complex from there. Because of its location and transparency, the mountains can be seen from every point of the building.
Made of trapezoidal white sheet, the object of pure lines achieves one of its goals: not to disturb the sight of the so called garden route.
