HARD & SOFT OFFICE
Place: Balcarce, Province of Buenos Aires, Argentina
Team: Architect Juan Manuel Rodriguez Llanos – Leonardo Sabalza
Year: 2005
Covered surface: 105 m2
Partially covered surface: 20 m2
This construction is located in the downtown area of the city of Balcarce. The main requirement for the development of this project was the need of the contracting party, a young man dedicated to computing, to create a work space for commercial use and a space for his own habitat.
A big garage, which occupied the total surface of an existing reinforced concrete structure, was transformed into a work place and a house of different qualities. The spaces were created in a stratified way in accordance with the 1 meter high beams and the 10 meters of light of the width of the land.
The customer service area was placed in the first level, in contact with the street; the workshop and repair area in the next level, in the heart of the building; the house was placed in the last level and it was conceived as an only place, taking over the yard and its views at the back of the construction.
The spaces are related through the continuity of their ceilings, the walls never touch them, and the bronze tinted glasses form the virtual limit.
Three apartments are currently being built in the upper floors.
This building is unveiled as one walks along. Its abstract and regular forms, together with the combination of cheerful colors of Mexican reminiscence, gave the construction rhythm and freshness.
